South Industry is well knows for the respect that the stars have for each other and the discipline they keep. But not everything seemed perfect when actors from different industries got together for an after party of the prestegious filmfare awards (south) at chennai.
According to reports from TOI the young and upcoming actor from Tamil Mahanth was roughed up by Manoj Manchu another actor from telugu industry with his friends. The event happened at around 4 am in the morning when the stars were socialising over drinks at famous lounge in chennai.
As per the information given out by Mahanth to the media he was beaten up for no reason and Manoj threatened to take his life and even made a few phone calls at the venue making a bid for taking Mahanth's life.
"This incident happened around 4 am in the morning of 8th July. After I was assaulted, I had called one of my friends who came to pick me from the spot and I was taken to a hospital. I was treated for a swollen eye, severe pain to my right jaw. The doctors in emergency ward had told me that I was lucky to survive the blow to my throat as it would have easily dislocated my jaw. It took me seven hours to be treated in the hospital. I am asked to be under treatment for the next five days. I am still in mental shock and fear for my life as he had even made an attempt to inform people to have me killed. I am worried for my life." says Mahanth. Mahanth has filed an FIR with the local police against Manoj.
There are rumours that the south actress Taapsee is the bone of contention between the actors who is close with both of them. There were rumours of Taapsee dating Mahanth for quite sometime and there were also rumours about their break up and Taapsee's link up with Manoj.
Manoj's sister Lakshmi who took home the best actress in a villain role the same night denied the reports and said Mahanth is a good friend. "Mahath is a good friend of ours and Manoj would never harm him. Tiffs happen between friends and they always get back. We've known Mahath for the longest time and he is a friend of ours. I don't know who spreads these stories. We were catching up with our friends from different industries and having a jolly good time. Why would Manoj want to hurt Mahath? I was at the venue when this reported incident took place, and I can tell you I heard no commotion. I didn't hear even a glass break. In fact, I was there even after Mahath left the venue. I think people should grow up and stop spreading rumours."
